When Sir Roger Moore hung up his hat in 1985 after doing a record seven films for EON Productions, the hunt for a new actor to portray the role of James Bond. They found Welsh stage and screen actor Timothy Dalton who starred as the famous secret agent in his two outings The living daylights and License to kill. Timothy Dalton is remembered as the actor who portrayed and channeled James Bond found in Ian Fleming's original novels as a more ruthless and hard-edged character. His portrayal of 007 is highly regarded amongst Bond fans and is considered very close to the character as mentioned in Ian Fleming's novels.

Timothy Dalton was born in Colwyn Bay, Wales on March 21, 1944. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and his stage work quickly marked him out as an actor of tremendous presence. He was initially approached to play the role of James Bond in 1968 but he declined because he was just 25 at that time. He slipped into the 007's tuxedo in 1987, making him the fourth actor in the series.
